Three Rromani poems on pain and sorrow (… what else?) (II)

This post continues a previous one with the same heading on my translations into Catalan of some Rromani poems from “Dukh” (Pain), by Hedina Tahirović Sijerčić.

(For an introductory explanation and a concise biographical note about the author, please follow the link above.)

Dukhalipe

O dukhalipe vulisarilo mrni odji,

odji tasavel pes.

Sar te phurdav drabardi hava,

sar te pijav drabardo paj,

me tasajvav.

Mrni odji tasavel pes.

O dukhalipe vulisarilo las.

Sar te vareko aver

andothan man dzuvdel.

Sar te vareko aver

andothan man vacharel.

Sar te vareko aver

andothan man phirel.

.

Themni sem korkori peske.

Mo ilo ratvalo rovel.

Jasva chinen les.

Phuchipe si kana ka pirosaren sasto.

Cherdivav mashina savi phurdel

Thaj me phuchav pes:

Shaj o dukhalipe te vulisarel trujal e robotesko?

.

O dukhalipe vulisarilo mrmi odji,

odji tasavel pes.

O dukhalipe vulisarilo mrmi odji,

odji tasavili.

Patiment

El patiment ha embolcallat la meva ànima,

l’ànima se m’ofega.

Com que respiro un aire emmetzinat,

com que bec aigua emmetzinada,

m’ofego.

La meva ànima s’ofega.

El patiment l’ha embolcallada.

Com si algú altre

visqués en lloc meu.

Com si algú altre

parlés en lloc meu.

Com si algú altre

caminés en lloc meu.

Sóc estranya a mi mateixa.

El meu cor plora sang.

Les llàgrimes l’escolen.

La qüestió rau en quan s’escolarà del tot.

He esdevingut una andròmina que respira.

I doncs, em demano:

Pot el patiment esbaltir del tot un robot?

El patiment ha embolcallat la meva ànima,

l’ànima se m’ofega.

El patiment ha embolcallat la meva ànima,

l’ànima se m’afona.

Sorrow

Sorrow has enwrapped my soul,

my soul is suffocating.

As I breath a poisoned air,

as I drink poisoned water,

I am suffocating.

My soul is suffocating.

Sorrow has enwrapped it.

As someone else

lives instead of me.

As someone else

talks instead of me.

As someone else

walks instead of me.

.

I am a stranger to myself.

And my heart, bloody, cries.

My tears are going to melt it.

The question I ask is:

when will it melt completely?

I have become a machine which breathes.

And I ask myself:

Can sorrow enshroud a robot?

.

Sorrow has engulfed my soul,

it is suffocating.

Sorrow has smothered my soul,

and it is sinking.
